It’s been awhile since we posted a blog; June 2020, and since then the world has turned itself inside out. In June the pandemic was still a bit of a novelty to most who had not encountered it and at times a catastrophe for those who did.
In April of 2021 the grim reality is apparent along with the deception and false narratives that result from a true problem being taken over by those who would use a national emergency for political gain, fear mongering and control. Media manipulation has reached pandemic proportions. It’s nearly impossible to know what to believe when even the “experts” contradict themselves and other “experts.”
Since Smooth Transitions serves primarily a senior community our business was severely affected by the lock downs and other restrictions. We continue work as we can using an abundance of caution on behalf of our clients and our employees.
But hard times sometimes spawn new opportunities. Estate dispersal is never easy and the pandemic shut down a lot of traditional activities such as on-site estate sales and auctions. Since downsizing is an important part of our business and because our clients often have far too much “stuff” we needed to find a new marketing outlet.
Two of our friends bought a furniture store, The Furniture Outlet, which is located on Monroe Street in Spokane. The basement area was unused so we cleaned it out and created the “Born Again Collection.” We are now open for business as part of the furniture store and have lots of interesting furnishings and accessories to offer. We also offer design services.
We continue to support charities but having a new outlet that offers our clients opportunity to get some return on their investment while downsizing is an important service. We are never sure if we will return to “normal,” whatever that means, but we should always find new ways to adapt.
